What a session look like?

From the moment you walk in the door we will go at your pace, and with your comfort zone. We will start with you laying out what you brought to wear. If there are several things I will help you narrow it down. The first look you will be more covered and will typically be not your favorite outfit/look, this gives us both time to warm up and for you to get comfortable and a little more in your body. From there we will ramp it up as desired. I will give you as much instruction and am happy to be as bossy as you need me to. That being said, it is my goal to capture you, and to do that I will give you prompts and then let you do your own thing and flow as much as you can on your own. Unlike some photographers, I tend to move myself more then I move you to get the angles I want, so if and when I give you less direction it is because you are doing great all on your own. At any point during our time together you need to pause, get some water, reset, have a question, get uncomfortable (physically, emotionally, or spiritually) I implore you to speak up. I will of course do my best to watch for signs of needing rest or change and will give them to you as needed but don’t be afraid to tell me what you need. The goal is to set you up for success as best as possible.

How to prep:

TLC looks different to everyone so here is a list of ways I tell my clients to take care of themselves in order to set themselves up for the best experience. Take what applies to you when looking through these:

a. Spend more time nakey! Start to seeing your body more often in all its authentic glory by walk by the mirror naked more. Make sure to think positive thoughts when you see yourself even if it just quick override or correction to the first thing that actually pops into your mind. We ALL struggle with body image so be patient and nice to yourself. Start this as soon as you’ve booked your appointment. I know that is sounds silly but it will make way more of a difference than you can ever imagine.

b. Arrive in loose fitting clothes so that you do not have lines or marks on your body.

c. Take a shower, make sure your hair is clean for your session.

d. Shave if that’s something you do. If you wax book your appointment about 2-3 days before to hit that sweet spot between not red and before the ingrowns show up

e. Make it a relaxing day. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your session

f. Make a playlist of music that puts you in the mood you think you will want for the session.

g. Spend some time the morning of or on your way over jamming to your favorite music, hyping yourself up, dancing in the mirror, singing your heart out, head banging, drumming on your steering wheel, etc.

h. Take a bath the night before with candles, a bath bomb, a glass of wine or 2 or whatever it is you like to drink.

i. Day before drink extra water

j. Get a little extra sleep

k. Make yummy food that you love

l. Go for a walk, or get a good workout in, or do yoga; just move your body a little to get in touch with it

m. Journal

n. Take care of yourself

Couples

a. Talk about comfort zones and boundaries for the shoot. Then leave the hard conversations for another time

b. Spend more time nakey together if you plan on getting nakey for your session

d. Hype each other up

e. Reminisce on your favorite memories together

f. Try to not pick fights because of feeling that come up around getting your picture taken, or money, or insecurities.

What do I wear? (Boudoir)

Babe, you can wear anything from your birthday suit to your favorite teddy, grader, or harness. Or you can wear something in-between like your favorite boy short undies and a big t-shirt. Or you can wear a robe, or high socks, panities, and a sweater. If you aren’t sure about something and are wanting to bring/wear shoot me an email or add it to the questions tab.

Why do boudoir?

There are many reasons people do boudoir sessions. It’s a self love story for you or for your partner. It can capture a place you are in your life to look back on forever. It can be to capture the art that you are or to highlight something amazing your body has done like have a baby or to capture you in your true form. The reasons are endless. You are a work of art and it is my honor to capture that.

Will you edit my strech marks and skin imperfections?

Yes and no. My rule for editing is I take away anything that wouldn’t be there in a week or two such a bruises, blemishes, scratches, etc. That being said on occasion I will brush/soften certain textures on skin

What if I don’t want my images online?

I am more than happy to keep your images just for you! You tell me what you want and I will respect your boundaries and privacy. Some prefer for me to not show their face but are comfortable with me sharing images of their bodies while others select a few specific images that they would like to keep private. These are for you, not for me.

I was planning on losing weight but haven’t, now what?

Babe babe babe! I will take you as you are. Your body is a work of art no matter what shape or size you are. Let me show you!
